“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7 (ESV)
Worship is the core of our GFS work. The spiritual side of our members is the side which we seek to develop most through the various activities. During each GFS programme, a time is set aside for worship. This should be a time for girls to build their relationship with God. It should be presented in various forms so it can be integrated in everyday life. It could be singing hymns/songs, repeating known prayers or a short quick prayer from the heart. Prayer is intimately talking to God so whatever is chosen needs to be relevant to the girls. Praying with children should not be too long but should be simple and sincere. Sometimes saying rhythmic prayers such as the prayer of St Richard can be useful and can be easily learnt. Here is a contemporary version of it taken from the Lords prayer words.com. This prayer was used as the basis of the song “Day by Day” from the musical Godspell in 1971. This prayer reminds us that to follow Jesus we need to constantly seek Him. When we are alone with God daily, we will gradually build our relationship with Him.

Prayer for the New Year
O God, Father and Creator,
I thank you for all the joy of the year that has ended; for the things I have learned, the fun I have had, and the love that has been shown me.
I ask you now to go with me into the New Year.
Let me feel your presence, and teach me to depend on your help.
Help me to be more like Jesus Christ in the coming year than ever before.
Amen
